Listing claim terms

These plain-English terms apply when you claim a listing on australiaweb.net. Claiming is free.

Who can claim

Only the business or organisation itself, or someone it has authorised (an owner, manager or office-holder), may claim its listing. Public places such as parks, beaches and libraries can’t be claimed. Each listing has one owner account.

How we check

  • A 6-digit code (valid for 30 minutes) emailed to the listing’s own email address or to an address at the listing’s website. Free email services, social media pages and national chains can’t be used for this.
  • Or a short code you add to your website.
  • Or a manual check, where we compare your details with public records such as ABN Lookup and the ACNC charity register and may contact the business on its published phone or email.

We never ask for ID documents. We may refuse or remove a claim at any time if we can’t confirm it.

Your responsibilities

Keep your listing accurate, lawful and family-friendly. Don’t claim a listing you don’t represent. We may edit or remove content that breaks these terms or our site rules.

Wrong owner?

Anyone can use “Report a wrong owner” on a listing. Changes to the listing are paused while we check, and we may remove the owner. Owners can remove themselves at any time from “Owner tools”.

No guarantee

A claimed listing shows that the person passed one of the checks above. It is not an endorsement, and we don’t guarantee any business. The service is provided as is, to the extent the law allows. We may change these terms; the current version is always on this page.
